Hi, I'm Kara! I apprenticed for two years under various mentors to learn and perfect my skills as a dog trainer and in October of 2021, I decided it was time to strike out on my own and founded Centex Dog Training. In 2025, I decided to transition away from pet dog training and focus on exclusively Service Dog training. I specialize in training psychiatric service dogs and has several past clients working full time as fully trained service dogs. I believe that everyone that needs a service dog should have access to one and be given the tools they need to succeed for training their own!
I am involved in various dog sports with my personal dogs including AKC FastCAT, Dock Diving, and AKC Trick Dog. I am an approved CGC Evaluator and am constantly working to learn and prove my skills professionally and recreationally.
I currently work full time as a Teacher's Aide at a local High School and therefore have limited availability during the week during the school year.
Training is not "one size fits all" and must be tailored to each individual situation. You get to decide what we prioritize, what tools we use, what the end goal is, when we train, how often we train, what cues we use, and everything else that goes into your dog’s training. If something makes you uncomfortable, we stop doing it. If you want to focus on something specific, we focus on that. You get to decide how your dog is trained.
Provide Accessible Training
It is our belief that dog training should be easily accessible to dog owners. We do our best to keep prices at a reasonable rate so that we can better serve more of our community.
Help the Disabled Gain Independence
Service Dogs provide a level of independence for their disabled handlers that makes all the difference in the world. Our goal is to give people that sense of independence by training dogs to perform tasks that make their lives easier.
Educate the Public
Our goal is to help handlers and the general public learn about the laws around Service Dogs, dog behavior, and Service Dog etiquette.
